Cotlands Recycle Initiative for Babies

The AIDS epidemic in South Africa is seeing more casualties than ever imagined and the most heart wrenching of these consequences is the thousands of orphans left without a home, food, care and love. The statistics are frightening. More than 100 000 children are currently infected with HIV with an estimation of 1 million children feared to be orphaned by this dreaded disease.

Helping these very innocent victims, by joining forces with various organisations that offer care and support to families and children affected by and infected with HIV/AIDS, remains as a solid commitment by Lexmark.

One of the beneficiaries of the CRIB project is Cotlands, an organisation established in 1936 for the housing and care of abandoned, abused, neglected and HIV children from birth to six years. Cotlands is the first such child shelter of its kind to have established in South Africa.

Through the years, Cotlands have extended their work beyond the children’s centre into community support in various areas of South Africa, and has also been at the forefront of administering Antiretroviral (ARV) Treatment and being a witness to a great improvement in the children’s health.

Through CRIB, Lexmark aims to recover all used ink and toner cartridges from our customers, recycle them in a responsible manner, and most importantly make a valuable monetary contribution towards needy charities.

Since its inception in April 2002, CRIB has managed to raise over 30 000 Baby Days. We are grateful for the success of CRIB and continue to request our customers support. Every contribution helps!
